The Smashing Pumpkins advert isn't for an album but does mention the album the single comes from, it also shows off two things. One, having the female lead singer posing will attract a larger male audience to the album and the music videos. Where are music videos seen / watched?
Today because of technology music videos can be seen in anywhere at anytime, sites like YouTube and Vevo give the audience this ability. But there are still the older forms of media like a TV and DVD that show music videos to a mass audience.
